Urine Collection

You don’t need to schedule an appointment for urine testing. However, you need to have an electronic requisition issued by a doctor in the system. You can pick up the specimen tube from the nurse or the referring doctor (with a yellow cap), or you can purchase it at the pharmacy. Bring the first morning urine sample to the nurse’s office on the 1st floor or to the reception on the 2nd floor during morning hours between 7:30 and 11:30.

From the first morning urine sample, we will determine the presence of blood, protein, various crystals, or signs of infection. There is no need for any special procedure during collection. Urine testing can also be performed at any time during the day directly in the office using designated diagnostic equipment.

If it is necessary to identify the specific cause of a urinary tract infection and its sensitivity to antibiotics, we perform urine culture and sensitivity testing by collecting a urine sample in a sterile tube (with a red cap), which you can also obtain in the office or purchase at the pharmacy. Before collection, it is necessary to wash, void the first portion of urine, and then collect the midstream urine into the tube.

We can also test for bacteria other than typical ones (most commonly E. coli), such as sexually transmitted bacteria like ureaplasma, mycoplasma, and chlamydia using PCR tests.
